Scene I
The play describes the Amsterdan area where the Franks lived. what happens in the first scene is after the Nazi rule. Mr. Frank is waiting for Meip. Meip is now pregnant. Mr. Frank tells Meip that he is leaving Amsterdam. Meip on the other hand wants him to stay and live here. He tells her that not after what happened. Meip tells him of some things she found laying around. Mr. Frank does not want it because it brings him horrible memories. However he finds Anne's diary. He begins to read it. Anne's voice is heard in the background.The stage darkens and the scene ends.
Scene II
We go back to where all the Franks are getting ready to hide during the Nazi rule. Some new

people are met during the second scene. They're Peter Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan, Mrs. Van Daan, Mrs. Frank, and Mr. Kraler. The Van Daans are waiting for the Franks. Mr. Frank introduces his family because the Franks (except for Mr. Frank) have not met the Van Daans. Meip and Mr. Kraler are helping both families settle in into the attic of the office building. Mr. Frank tells them that they must not make noise while the workers are downstairs. Anne starts to talk to Peter and finds out more about him such as him being a lone wolf kind of person. Anne meets Peter's cat Mouschi. Anne and Peter both take off the star of david that they have sowed to their clothes. Peter throws it in the stove and burns it but, Anne could not because the star was important to her as a jew. Anne receives a diary from her father. When she was going downstairs to look for a pen her father told her not to because of the danger that she will put herself in.
SceneIII
Now two months have passed and it is a little after six o' clock. All the workers leave and the two families start to move around. Anne takes Peter's shoes and Peter starts to argue with Anne. Peter goes to feed his cat and his mother tells him to

finish his lessons. Peter tells everyone about Anne's talkative self and why they call her Ms. Quack Quack. Mrs. Van Daan tells Anne about her young days. Mr. Van Daan gets mad at Peter for spending more time with the cat than with his lessons. additionally he gets mad at Peter for not finishing them yet and Mr. Frank ends up helping Peter. Both of the Vann Daans get in an argument about Mr. Van Daan's smoking addiction. that discussion led Mr. Van Daan to tell Anne that she was rude because she was listening to their disscusion in which Anne called a quarrel. Mr. Van Daan starts to talk bad about Anne. Anne accidently spills milk on Mrs. Van Daan's fur coat. Mrs. Frank tells Anne to stop answering back. Which led to an argument about why Anne can't be more like her sister Margot(Margo). Mr. Kraler brings in another person that is going to stay with them for just a few days. His name is Mr. Dussel and he is a dentist. Anne shows him around and tells him about the schedule that the have.
Scene IV
Several months later during the night everyone wakes up because they hear s
omeone scream. It was Anne who was screaming because she had a nightmare. Everyone was worried because they thought that there were other people in the attic. Mr. Dussel is angry because Anne is always making noise, making it harder for him to sleep. The Franks help shush her up because they are worried someone on the out side will hear. When Mrs. Frank tries to bond with Anne by comforting her Anne denies it. Anne wants her father with her not her mother because they are different people. Anne explains her dream to her father. Anne tells her dad that she regrets the things she has done because it is not really her it is her bad side. Anne tells her dad that she will start to change and act differently.
