Peter

He has cat

Mr. Van daan is jealous

Because he thinks it is fat

And there is not dought about that

Mrs. Van Daan is so not cool

Since she thinks everyone comes to see her

Even though she acts a fool

And she that she is all that

Look at her she is an old bat

Anne and Peter didn't get along

Their rythm didn't play the same song

They fought and they scuffled

Thier clothes started to ruffle

Now peter he is the man

The one this poem is about

Oh I'm running out of lines oh damn

Either way it is easyier to say

He is a loner

And he is here to stay

Character Analysis: Peter

The person that I chose from the Anne Frank play is Peter. He is the son of Mr. Van Daan and Mrs. Van Daan. He is sixteen years old and has a cat named Mouschi who he says that the cat is a tom. He is more of a lone wolf kind of person meaning that he likes being by himself and doing things himself. He answers without being rude and is very calm. Yet sometimes he is capable of being agressive and rebelious. His role on the story is kind of like the isolated person of the story. He lives in the bottom floor of the attic under his parents and next to the Franks. He does not have a good relationship with his parents. He does not like to study with his father and he feels that his mother will embarras him by teasing him. He has a love hate relationship with Anne. He and Mr. Frank are working together to help him in his lessons because his dad does not want teach him anymmore. Mr. Dussel and Peter so far in the play have not spoken to each other from these previous scenes. Additionally Margot (Margo) has not spoken to Peter as well. One line of the story that I think tells alot about Peter is when Anne begins to get to know Peter.

Act I, Scene II Page709

Anne: Why didn't you ever come over?

Peter: I'm sort of a lone wolf. [He starts to rip off the star of David.]

Anne: What are you doing?

Peter: Taking it off.

Anne: But you can't do that. They'll arrest you if you go out without your star.

[He tosses his knife on the table.]

Peter: Who is going out?

These lines show much about his personality and about who he is. These next lines also on the same page show how he feels about the star that is on his clothes.

Anne: . . . . . . . What are you doing with yours?

[Peter goes over to the stove with his star.]

Peter: Burn it.

Anne: [She starts to throw hers in, and cannot.] It's funny, I can't throw mine away. I don't know why.

Peter: You can't throw . . . ? Something they branded you with . . . ? That they made you wear so they could spit on you?

Anne: I know. I know. But after all, it is the Star of David, isn't it?

[ In the bedroom, right, Margot and Mrs. Frank are lying down. Mr. Frank starts Quitly out.]

Peter: Maybe it is different for a girl.

Act 1

Scene I

The play describes the Amsterdan area where the Franks lived. what happens in the first scene is after the Nazi rule. Mr. Frank is waiting for Meip. Meip is now pregnant. Mr. Frank tells Meip that he is leaving Amsterdam. Meip on the other hand wants him to stay and live here. He tells her that not after what happened. Meip tells him of some things she found laying around. Mr. Frank does not want it because it brings him horrible memories. However he finds Anne's diary. He begins to read it. Anne's voice is heard in the background. The stage darkens and the scene ends.

Scene II

We go back to where all the Franks are getting ready to hide during the Nazi rule. Some new people are met during the second scene. They're Peter Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan, Mrs. Van Daan, Mrs. Frank, and Mr. Kraler. The Van Daans are waiting for the Franks. Mr. Frank introduces his family because the Franks (except for Mr. Frank) have not met the Van Daans. Meip and Mr. Kraler are helping both families settle in into the attic of the office building. Mr. Frank tells them that they must not make noise while the workers are downstairs. Anne starts to talk to Peter and finds out more about him such as him being a lone wolf kind of person. Anne meets Peter's cat Mouschi. Anne and Peter both take off the star of david that they have sowed to their clothes. Peter throws it in the stove and burns it but, Anne could not because the star was important to her as a jew. Anne receives a diary from her father. When she was going downstairs to look for a pen her father told her not to because of the danger that she will put herself in.

SceneIII

Now two months have passed and it is a little after six o' clock. All the workers leave and the two families start to move around. Anne takes Peter's shoes and Peter starts to argue with Anne. Peter goes to feed his cat and his mother tells him to finish his lessons. Peter tells everyone about Anne's talkative self and why they call her Ms. Quack Quack. Mrs. Van Daan tells Anne about her young days. Mr. Van Daan gets mad at Peter for spending more time with the cat than with his lessons. additionally he gets mad at Peter for not finishing them yet and Mr. Frank ends up helping Peter. Both of the Vann Daans get in an argument about Mr. Van Daan's smoking addiction. that discussion led Mr. Van Daan to tell Anne that she was rude because she was listening to their disscusion in which Anne called a quarrel. Mr. Van Daan starts to talk bad about Anne. Anne accidently spills milk on Mrs. Van Daan's fur coat. Mrs. Frank tells Anne to stop answering back. Which led to an argument about why Anne can't be more like her sister Margot(Margo). Mr. Kraler brings in another person that is going to stay with them for just a few days. His name is Mr. Dussel and he is a dentist. Anne shows him around and tells him about the schedule that the have.

Scene IV

Several months later during the night everyone wakes up because they hear someone scream. It was Anne who was screaming because she had a nightmare. Everyone was worried because they thought that there were other people in the attic. Mr. Dussel is angry because Anne is always making noise, making it harder for him to sleep. The Franks help shush her up because they are worried someone on the out side will hear. When Mrs. Frank tries to bond with Anne by comforting her Anne denies it. Anne wants her father with her not her mother because they are different people. Anne explains her dream to her father. Anne tells her dad that she regrets the things she has done because it is not really her it is her bad side. Anne tells her dad that she will start to change and act differently.

What is Drama?

Drama is most closely assosiated with problems that lead up with people arguing and/or acting up. Others think of drama as acting or plays. drama can contain seven types of themes bravery, revenge, redemption, family, tragedy, love, and war. Many stories such as "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare contain all types of themes. Drama contains a plot with a begining, middle, and an end. These parts of plots are called the exposition, the rising action, the climax, the falling action, and finally the resolution. The resolution is the begining of the story, the climax or turning point of the story is the middle. Drama in literature is know as a playwrite script or an ordinary story. However it is still part of drama. Therefore it follows the same guide lines meaning it has a plot and has one or more of the seven themes. Literaray drama is life expressed through story. It makes people think of it as a play or a skit. When it talks about bring it to life it means to bring it from a story to an actual life scale play. Futhermore the story is changed in a way that the characters in the story are acted out in a such a way that it is if it were the actual charater.
